Ninja Summer Camp (Ages 6-13)Sports & RecreationThis summer give your child an American Ninja Warrior Experience! Young Ninjas develop strength and agility during this camp by learning different styles and techniques to master all obstacles. We have warped walls, angled steps, salmon ladders, cliff hangers, tilted ladders; everything you need to put your ninja skills to work. This camp transfers well into ninja levels testing or enhances other athletic performances. All camps are coached by an experienced Ninja Trainer. Kirsten will share the three rules of skewering and demonstrate multiple methods to pleasingly present your offerings; from vegan to omnivore, there are recipes for everyone. Participants will receive an extensive handout along with the link to join prior to class. Summer Recreational Soccer (entering gr. K-5)Sports & RecreationNEW this Summer: Boys and Girls Separated for Most Grade Levels if Numbers Allow! Centennial Soccer Club will be leading the 2026 Summer Recreation Soccer Program! Practice time has a focus on age-appropriate training that will include ball control, dribbling, passing, shooting, defending, and teaching the basics of the game. One day will be practice and the other day will be games. Practices will be one hour long. Practice times vary between 5-8 pm. All sessions are led by volunteer coaches. Schedule, field information, roster, etc. will be powered by Sports Engine App (more info will be sent out as teams are formed). Please bring shin guards, cleats, and a soccer ball (size 3 for grades K/1 and size 4 for grades 2-5). Everyone will receive a Centennial Soccer Club jersey. Please indicate t-shirt size when registering. Price: $130 (6 games plus practices) Wednesdays & Sundays, May 20-July 12 (no soccer May 24, July 1 and July 5)Summer Kickoff: May 20. Receive your jersey and meet your coaches! Where: Rice Lake Elementary Soccer FieldsWednesday practice time: TBD per team between 5-8 pm Sunday game times: Either 3 pm, 4 pm, or 5 pm based on team schedule (TBD) Your team's practice and game times will be finalized prior to season start. Summer Academy Coding and Robotics (Entering Grades 3-4 by invitation only)Centennial Summer AcademyEngage in fun coding challenges to learn how to solve problems through programming with a team or partner. After an introduction to programming and coding, students will learn how to program Dash the robot through different challenges! Our field trip will be to the University of Minnesota’s Robotics Laboratory. Registration is by invitation only and is non-refundable after May 15. Teacher: Megan Gemuenden is a third-grade teacher at Rice Lake Elementary School. This will be her third summer teaching Summer Academy and her sixth year as a third-grade teacher at Rice Lake. In the summers, she has taught Targeted Services and coached at Camp Invention, a STEM and engineering camp. In her free time, she loves to read, run, cross country ski (when there's snow) and play board games. Teacher: Annie Weichelt is a third-grade teacher at Rice Lake Elementary School. Summer Cougar Strength Weight Training (entering gr. 6-12)Fitness, Health & SafetyYou must be a Centennial student to enroll in this course. The Cougar Strength Summer Program is a competitive and engaging training experience designed to help Centennial athletes enhance their strength, speed, and overall athletic ability. Through a combination of advanced strength training, explosive speed drills, and agility exercises, participants build the skills needed to excel in their sports. The program fosters a fun yet challenging environment, encouraging athletes to push their limits while promoting teamwork, discipline, and a winning mindset. Led by experienced coaches, this program is ideal for those looking to stay in peak condition and gain an edge for the upcoming sports season. It is time to prepare to raise the standard at Centennial in the 2026-2027 school year! Look for the session title that correlates with the grade level entering for the 2026-27 school year. There will be no make ups for cancelled sessions due to its low price. Sessions will take place both outdoors and indoors. Session Dates: Monday through Thursday, June 15-August 6. No activities the week of July 6-9. 6:45 – 8:30 A.M. It will be assumed that individuals in this group will have some previous strength training experience. Session 2: Incoming 9th/10th Grade Boys – Fall/Winter Contact Sports (Football, Wrestling, Hockey) This high school group is high intensity, competitive, data driven and will move at a fast pace. Athletes will learn to follow a specific program for improving the athlete. Progressions and groupings will be developed based on the individual's experience. 8:30 – 10:00 A.M. Session 3: 9th-12th Grade Females - ALL SPORTS This high school group is high intensity, competitive, data driven and will move at a fast pace. Come and learn about the methods and art of good storytelling! We will explore storytelling from around the world, practice creating stories that capture the attention of audiences, and share our stories with others. We will also have a chance to explore bookmaking and other ways people throughout history have left their stories behind to share with us! Our field trip will be to the Science Museum of Minnesota. Boys & Girls Basketball Open Gym (entering gr. 4-12)Sports & RecreationPreregistration required to attend - no walk ups! The CHS/West Gyms will be open on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 7-9 pm for basketball players to practice their skills. A gym supervisor will be onsite for the duration of the open gym. High School coaches may be present on occasion to offer assistance; however, this is not an instructional program - just a chance for athletes to work on their game. Participants will check in each night with the supervisor. Summer Academy Mad Scientist (Entering Grades 3-4 by invitation only)Centennial Summer AcademyGet your safety goggles ready - it’s time for hands-on (and sometimes messy!) science fun! In our “lab” we will explore the world of STEAM while learning about chemical changes, gravity, light, and other core concepts. Our experiments will include making butter, building a wind-powered car, creating elephant toothpaste and much more! Our field trip will be to the Works in Edina. Centennial Alumni Summer Shakespeare Theater (C.A.S.T.) (entering gr. 6 through alumni)Fine Arts (Music/Voice/Theater)All ages and experience levels are welcome. Don't be nervous or intimidated about doing Shakespeare as we accommodate and teach all levels of experience, and each play will have non-speaking and speaking roles. Grades 6-8 will perform "Shakespeare Tonight"William Shakespeare is the guest on a talk-show as he talks about his famous work and life, we see them created onstage (as well as some Shakespeare Tonight Special Guest appearances). Grades 9-12 will perform "Romeo and Juliet" Adult Alumni 18+ will perform "Julius Ceasar" Performance Day: Friday, July 24. Summer Academy Crime Scene Science (Entering Grades 5-6 by invitation only)Centennial Summer AcademyHave you ever wanted to help solve a crime? We're looking for some super sleuths to dig up clues, identify suspects and help put the criminals behind bars. We'll use different crime scene investigation techniques like fingerprinting, impression analysis, deciphering eyewitness accounts and other forensic evidence to help piece together the clues and close the case. Registration is by invitation only and is non-refundable after May 15. Teacher: Kris Cardille. I have an elementary education degree from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. I have been involved in Centennial School District for the past 15 years-ish. I have been a substitute in the elementary schools and for the past 2 years have been the district sub. DASH Lacrosse (ages 6-12)Sports & RecreationDASH Sports Summer Lacrosse camps provide participants a no-contact introductory experience to the game. Athletes will learn basic lacrosse fundamentals including stick handling, cradling, passing and shooting all in a fun, non-checking environment. This is a non-contact camp, helmets, gloves and mouth guards are not required but can be brought with and worn. Sticks and safety lacrosse balls are provided.
