Cougar Strength is designed for all 7th and 8th grade Centennial student athletes who want to develop explosive power absolute strength, muscular endurance, speed, quickness, agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular fitness. The program achieves these measured athletic qualities by introducing our middle school athletes to the base movements and their variations along with other movement preparatory exercises; high-intensity, strength-building exercises; exercises containing plyometric properties; proper technique and teaching progressions; and researched program design and periodization. Cougar Strength is the only program in the school that collects ALL athletes and brings them into one room with a common goal - developing themselves as an athlete to help their teams be successful. Activity buses depart at 4:45 pm, and after-school supervision is available at no additional charge in the cafeteria until 6 pm. Speech Team is an academic program where students prepare and then present a speech at meets throughout the season. The Speech Season runs December and January. The Centennial Middle School Speech Team is a long-standing program that has been around for over 25 years. In addition to improving public speaking skills, Speech improves a student's confidence and is a great program to develop long lasting friendships and camaraderie. Speech is open to any level of experience. You don't need any experience in public performing to join speech! Rehearsals are in December. Meets will be in January. There will be meets in Minnetonka, Eden Prairie (Finals Meet) and a Centennial Home meet. Meets are after school with busses leaving around 2:30 or 3:00 and returning back to Centennial around 7:30 - 9:00 Meet will be announced in fall of 2026 and the rehearsal and meet schedule is posted at centennialtheatre.org under “Middle School Speech” More details about how Speech Team works can be found at Centennialtheatre.org.
