Pack your bags for a fun-filled getaway! Whether you're traveling as a couple, with friends or family, or planning a girls' trip, this three-day adventure has something for everyone.
Wednesday: We’ll depart in the morning from the Rookery Activity Center and travel to Decorah, Iowa, where we'll enjoy a wine tasting and lunch. From there, we'll continue to Galena, Illinois, and check in to the historic DeSoto House Hotel, where breakfast and luggage service are included. That evening, we'll travel to Dubuque for a scenic river cruise featuring dinner on board.
Thursday: Start the day with a guided trolley tour before enjoying free time and lunch on your own. In the afternoon, we'll visit the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque. The day concludes with a unique progressive dinner, where you'll enjoy courses served at three historic locations throughout Dubuque while a step-on guide shares the city's rich history.
Friday: After breakfast, we'll return to Galena for a guided tour of the Ulysses S. Grant Home. Before heading home, you'll have time to enjoy lunch on your own. For those looking for an extra adventure, you can choose to participate in a goat stroll at a nearby farm (additional $50 fee) at approximately 12-1 pm. We'll depart Galena at 2:00 p.m. for the trip home, making one brief restroom stop along the way. Please note that we will not stop for dinner.

Deadline to withdraw with a $50 cancelation fee is March 18. No refunds thereafter.

Once the principal river port of the Upper Mississippi Valley, Galena reached its economic peak during the 1850's. With the coming of Illinois Central Railroad, a group of local investors formed the "Galena Hotel Company" and built a grand hotel to reflect the growing prosperity of this "Metropolis of the Northwest". Named for the discoverer of the Mississippi River, the DeSoto House opened on April 9, 1855 and was billed as the "Largest Hotel in the West".
